Eva, oh no! I'm sending good thoughts your way, as what else can I do. Thank goodness the hospital is so close to you.

I had something I was going to say but it seems rather insignificant at this point.

Re: Stitch in Time September 2012

Just got back from the hospital. John seems a lttlle more alert this afternoon. He asked about if I had talked to the kids and even about Mutt the cat. His speech is not as good as it should be but it has affect his whole left side. He has the curled hand like you see if people who have had a stroke and the droopy mouth.

We are hoping that the drugs were given in time this morning and the multitude of tests they will be doing tomorrow come back good. I will wait a while before I go up tomorrow morning and see if I can catch one of the doctors that will be in to see him. He has a male nurse named Jon. One nurse to a patient. Can I say dollar signs! I will need to sell a lot of dolls to pay for all of this.

I am doing okay. I think because I could see improvement from this morning that I feel a little better about it. The kids have all called and said they would come but there is nothing they could do so I told them to wait and see what happens next.

The funny thing is I got my files cleaned out. I had to find the Living Will and I knew it was in the filing cabinet somewhere. I found it but it was in about the last folder I looked in. We made them out in 2007 when I had had surgery. They are both in the front file now. I throw a large waste paper basket of stuff away that shouldn't even have been in there.

Re: Stitch in Time September 2012

Glad John is better. I understand cleaning the files out once you found your wills. When I have major stress like that I have to do something, whatever just something to keep my hands busy.

I bound one baby quilt today and one bed size. Done it feels delicious, I have to resist binding the other 2 baby quilts cause I pushed it doing what I did I think. Add all that to lifting a 50 lb dog with an injured leg (repeatedly for 3 days now) and maybe I should read a book tonight, a very light in weight book.

Eva I hope you can get some rest tonight, you will need to be on your toes this week. Sending you love and huge hugs.

Re: Stitch in Time September 2012

Glad there is some improvement Eva. Echoing what Margo said, try to get some rest.

Margo, sounds like you need some rest too.

I played with paper today. Spent time helping DH. The forecast is for the the daytime high temperatures to drop 20 degrees in the next few days. We needed to get the wood stove cleared out and ready for the first fire of the season. DH did most of the work. I did things like hold the ladder while he climbed to the roof. Tomorrow DH is determined to go out to the forest to cut more wood. So, off we go again.

Re: Stitch in Time September 2012

Debby a wood run sounds like a good plan. It's getting very chilly here at night, and I know it's a lot cooler where you live. You should take your sketchbook and watercolors and pencils and sketch while you sit in the truck. Lots of practice mixing greens I bet. I good way to get used to using your toys while out and about and no one looking over your shoulder. If you've been tearing paper down today you will probably need some sort of break tomorrow. I for one am going to lay on my heat pad and read tonight. Much as the siren call of quilts is loud. My obsessive compulsiveness when working on quilts can bite me in the butt, or really in the shoulder hands and elbows, quilters elbow, sounds funnier than it is in reality. Wonder if the dog will allow me to have the heatpad on my shoulder instead of hers. Maybe I need 3 heat pads, we are all getting older around here and I'm used to having the darn thing all to myself.

Re: Stitch in Time September 2012

Thank all of you for the good wishes. I have been watching tv and been on the computer with friends and family.

Today between hospital visits I got two loads of laundry done, cleaned up the kitchen and picked up around the house. Have more housework tomorrow that should keep me busy until I go to the hospital. Don't think I could concentrate on sewing right now.

Margo, yea for you in finishing up some of the quilts.

Debby, clean stove always is good and have fun in the woods tomorrow.
