Given the shadow on the porch, would a more formal painting have a darker shadow on the far right wall?

Thanks, Frank. You are right about the wall. there are plenty of things wrong with it. In my defense, I was standing a the kitchen counter waiting for my wife and sister-in-law to get ready to go out to breakfast so my head wasn’t really in the game.
