The following paintings were on display at the local community college’s cultural center. The paintings are beautifully characterized by defined brushwork using sharp colors and shades of oils and acrylics on the velvet-velveteen background. The art is often associated with the rasquache aesthetic but is now regarded as part of a rich Latino artistic and cultural tradition marked by its creativity and inventiveness.
