All oil on board.
smallish works; around 11×14. Started with acrylic wash under-painting and some line-work with Polychromos oil pencil. On #2, I had to project the image and pencil in the outlines due to the darned spindles…..a nightmare.
Cheers, Derek

Solvent = Leaner Oil = Fatter Drawing is the basis of art. A bad painter cannot draw. But one who draws well can always paint. (Arshile Gorky)November 11, 2018 at 4:16 pm #726702Really nice. I need to get a handle on my colors, your tight values and color control really make a lovely picture.
November 11, 2018 at 4:54 pm #726701Love em! My fav being #2. GREAT light in that with excellent contrasts between shade and sun. All 3 are really well done, of course but that fence turned out exceptionally well, nightmare or no!
Why does it always seem our nightmare projects somehow turn out to be our best work? 😀
At least mine do! I’ll fight and redo and pull my hair (a VERY limited commodity! 😃 ) and finally just finish something to be done with it. Then go look at it a month later and find I’m quite pleased with it!

I especially like the flowers growing through the fence. Not easy to paint.

November 12, 2018 at 7:59 am #726693Beautiful work on tough subjects. I especially like the subject and long shadows striking the fence on the third. Gary
