acrylic and oils on panel size 16 x 26 inches
the picture shows the rms campania which held the Blue Riband in 1893 until her sister ship rms lucania which was a little bit faster took it from her and then held it for a few years.
I used a reference photo for details of the campania but the composition,the sky and the water are from my imagination.

Lovely piece of work. I absolutely love the liners from that period, especially the ones with a clipper bow. The SS City of Rome immediately comes to mind. Inman Lines ships were the greatest looking ships of the period. The RMS Scot was pretty neat also.

Beautiful work Dave! The ship is amazing against that dramatic sky and the way you gently reflected the light in those waves is exquisite to look at.
