Once upon a time- Arthur Rackham (november)

Hi everyone. Welcome to the children's illustrators project for November 09.

This month's artist is Arthur Rackham. For all you folks who like the faery realm!!

Arthur Rackham (19 September 1867 – 6 September 1939) was an English book illustrator.

We can copy his work, or do something 'in the style of', or maybe a new illustration to one of the stories he illustrated.

Looking forwad to seeing the art!

Oh, I didn't know it was him who did Alice in the Wonderland and Wind in the Willows. He has such superb drawings! Will definitely give it a try. I'm glad this is a month long thread and not 2 weeks thread. Thank you, June, for the intro.

Here's my first attempt at an Arthur Rackham - of course, being a Teddy-fanatic it had to be the Three Bears for me!

Hi Inky, that is a terrific bear study.

I like Rackham's animal work too. And then the little elves and pixies are good. I think he will be fun to study.

Nice on Inky -
I was not paying attention and papa bears hands were not table level so I sketched in another chair.

Very nice yellows, Inky. Your mama and papa bear are so contented compared to Robin's bears who look a bit shocked at the table manners of baby bear. Robin, great color combos! Inky, like the volume you gave to your bears too.

Just made it before the end of the month....here's my Rackham study...from the Alice books...mock turtle crying.

6 by 8 ins, acrylic inks, on paper.

I like his style of artwork.
