Photoshop 7: Beginners Guide

Great stuff! I recently bought a copy of PS7 without any documentation. Your tutorial sure makes things easier.

I was wondering the same thing Dave.......

Tony sounds like you might have an illegal copy of photoshop 7 not a good idea. If not, you need to pick up a book called the Photoshop 7 Bible.

Thanks Tony! I'm glad you enjoyed the article.

I wrote the article specifically because I was in your shoes when I received it...everything I could get my hands on seemed soooooo confusing and I couldn't follow any of it. I had never before worked with any Photoshop program, and I was at a complete loss. I consider myself fairly intellegent, and the loss I felt at trying to complete the basic steps left me beyond frustrated!

So I did what I thought best to do...I bit the bullet, bought a couple of books and went about the rather frustrating way of trial and error...lol. Finding books that I could even being to comprehend was another challenge...lol!

I tried to write it from the very basic point of view, knowing that I couldn't be the only person who felt that way upon opening it up PS7 for the first time!

I'm glad you found the article helpful, it means a lot to me to know that! Thank you!

Ivy

Lightbulb PS7

Thanks again for posting information about PS7. One suggestion about buying-if anyone is enrolled in a college or university, you can buy a Institutional version of the program much cheaper, usually in their bookstore.
I have noticed a book Photoshop 7.0: Classroom in a Book, by Adobe Press and only around $28.00(walmart online) and since this is so cheap for a ps book , was wondering if anyone has tried? Looks like it is endorsed by adobe. I bought a book from Savvy and really a struggle to learn from, have spend an evening just trying to work through one page of instructions.
Here is another site that may be helpful for some tips
http://www.adobe.com/products/tips/photoshop.html
One of my lifetime goals is to become efficient with this program, as I am not too young I need all the help possible.

I have been told that Sams Teach Yourself Adobe Photoshop 7 in 24 Hours by Carla Rose is a good reference. Amazon hasn't delivered the copy I ordered yet, tho, so I can't speak from experience!

Adobe's classroom in a book series are good - informative, and i recommend them they're bought out by adobe press, so they know what they're tlaking about

Veronica loaned me a book: Teach Yourself Visually for PS7. It covers the basics and is amazingly easy to learn from, I picked up 3 new things the first time I flicked through it. Like I say it is for the basics but this dummy recommends it
