patio stones

yesterday in a differerent tread, i mentioned that i was helping my wife our with her patio stones. she loves to garden and has surrounded our home with beautiful flowers. i have added a bunch of my glass art piece especially in our water fall and pond. my wife has made several patio stone to add some art details in the yard. here is a picture of one she made a couple of weeks ago. i will post a few pictures of the process. it is much the same way as stained glass windows are made. i do the cad work on a computer and then generate masks which are then applied to the glass pieces to aid in the cutting and grinding.

here we are using a glass cutter and nipper to rough out the glass pieces. notice the masks on the glass which are computer generated.

Hey, Mark, those stepping stones are great! I love making those and other mosaics. I hadn't thought of doing the pictures on the computer... And I have the same grinder and I LOVE it...

Thanks for posting those!

Thanks for the step by step instructions. Those are great stepping stones. I made one a while back not anything like yours but it was fun. Never thought about putting glass in them. How durable are they for outside? Do you put anything over the glass Do you seal it? I used stamps for my imprints and painted them looks funky. I wanna see the flower pleaseeee....

we don't leave the patio stones out in the winter, but they are outside the rest of the year. they are very durable. nothing over the glass. the cement is sealed with a clear liquid sealant. i am toying with the idea of putting some lights insdie so that the glass in the stone will light up.
