Lightbulb Paint a Picture for Olga

In the Palette Talk thread announcing the sad news of Olga Moore's death, Andy Mathis had a lovely idea:

Quote:
I didn't know Olga very well, as I said earlier, but here's an idea that might be a nice way to memorialize her for her generosity over the years (helping people out, sharing her photos, etc.)

There are 845 photos from her in the reference library. Would it be possible to paint those, as a way to honor her memory, and post them in a thread in a month or two? People could pick one. The painting wouldn't have to be very large or time consuming. It might even be a painting you have already painted.

If you would like to participate in this little project, go to the Reference Image Library and look through the many lovely photos Olga posted there for the Wet Canvas members to use as references in their paintings. Here is a link to Olga's Gallery in the RIL to make it easy for you to find them. As you will see, they range from architectural subjects from the many countries she and her family visited: Italy, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and many more; landscapes; florals, and many others.

Post a painting that you have done or will do using one of Olga's photos in the RIL in this thread before the last day of March so we can all share in this way of saying "Thank You" to a lovely lady and what she did for us here, especially in the Watercolor Forum.

When you post your painting, it would be nice if you also gave us the link to Olga's photo in the RIL as well.

Sylvia

What a lovely idea, I'll certainly be participating. Olga was a lovely lady and is sadly missed.

ME TOO!! I'm going to paint one of her beautiful pics too; just haven't decided on one yet....maybe I'll paint two!

To honor Olga lets all choose one of her great ref pics and wet our brushes in rememberance.

Re: Paint a Picture for Olga

I think I've found the one I'm going to paint. It was fun just touring around Europe with Olga.

There are some really beautiful flower pictures as well as buildings and landscapes there.

I'm in too. Olga's generosity is certainly evident in the many beautiful photos she shared with us. They are wonderful.

I think I'll do a sunflower, something to remind me of the sun as I look out on even more snow coming down. Thanks Olga!

Re: Paint a Picture for Olga

Syl, I've found SEVERAL of her pics I want to paint.....she was a fabulous photographer....her Venice scenes are amazing. There is enough inspiration in her ref pics alone to keep an artist busy for a year!!

Wonderful idea! I have already attempted a print from one of her Tuscany photos, perhaps I will post that plus a painting from the same photo. She was so generous!

Re: Paint a Picture for Olga

Wow, what a generous person she was to post so many wonderful pictures. I looked through all of them (no small task and yes, I am avoiding housework!), and I have found several to paint. Now to pick one........ hmmmmm.

What a wonderful way to honour someone who has obviously made such a contribution to this community. I will happily join in. Thanks Andy and Sylvia.

Re: Paint a Picture for Olga

Sylvia,
This was a great idea and I have done one today. It is from Olga's pics page 16 View 91 Brittany Castle.

I tried cutting and pasting it here but couldn't. Anyway, here is my painting in honor of Olga.

Re: Paint a Picture for Olga

Reggie,
You did a terrific job of painting this castle right on the coast in Brittany. (I've added the link to Olga's RIL page showing this photo.)

on getting it done so quickly.
