AAGH! My sharpener died!

I have three electric pencil sharpeners in this house and of course the one that died is the only one that gives me a nice sharp point on my prismas!

I did an internet search, hoping to find an exact replacement, no such luck. I searched the library here for a recommendation and the one that looked the most promising (the Panasonic) I can't find either. I don't know if I'm looking in the wrong place, or if there is a great new sharpener out there somewhere, but I am about to panic!

Can anyone help me?

Is this what you were looking for? It's the one I, and I know several other people use. Works very well, and inexpensive.

yup, the Panasonic, that Elaine linked to, is the one I use, prefer, love.
Nice sharp points, never any broken leads.

This is the one I've got and I personally love it for my prismas....

and I am guessing this is the new or similar version...

Re: AAGH! My sharpener died!

Elaine and Judy - That one might just work. One question, though...since it is battery powered, how often do you need to replace the batteries?

Scott - I actually looked at the Amazon page you linked to before I posted, but I am leery of buying a used sharpener. I wonder if anywhere still has that one new? It was raved about in the cp library.

Mig - I assume the $1.69 sharpener is a hand sharpener? I have such horrible luck with those, I should probably stick to an electric!

I'm sure Judy is using hers with more frequency than I am these days, but the batteries seem to wear very well, even when I am busy and using it frequently.

Re: AAGH! My sharpener died!

I love battery operated b/c they are portable. I don't feel like they wear out very fast, and it takes me a while to realize when they ARE wearing out, lol. They just sort of churn slower and slower and slower...

Re: AAGH! My sharpener died!

I don't find that my battery powered Panasonic waers out batteries very fast...and yes I use mine a lot. Get good batteries ... forget about getting the cheap batteries.

I have, however, worn down the motor in one, but that was after 3 years of daily usage. Still think it's a good sharpener, at a good price.
I can't get those Panasonics overhere, so I had a friend from the USA send me another one and that's one is now 2.5 years old, still working like a champ!

As Robin said, the portability of the battery powered Panasonic is a real plus too! Mine has been, many times to France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, the US, the UK and all over the Netherlands with me. It's a "travelling fool" that sharpener.

Re: AAGH! My sharpener died!

I actually have an electric and a battery powered one for those days I need the mobility.

The battery powered one I have is the KP4A linked above. It too is great, and I haven't really had to replace the batteries yet, and have been using it on and off for several months now. I use rechargable batteries too, I think that might save having to buy a zillion of them

Ahhhhh, I'm so behind the times. I have a crank sharpener salvaged from an old one room school my husband went to. Hey, it works like a champ.

They don't make 'em like they used to. The one in my classroom chews all pencils to bits.
