country pond mural
I started this one today. I showed the sketch for it in another thread. It's in the entry of a large country home and it will depict a lily pond and some of the wildlife that frequent it. The clients have several of these ponds on their farm, and they see bears, deer, turkeys, herons and all sorts of other critters.
Here's the first stage. I've sketched in the main elements with charcoal, and started blocking in the sky and most distant tree line.

.....beginning to add middle ground details, and must remember to put in a reflection of everything...

... this is the middle part of the mural, as far as I've taken it today. About 5 hours' work. I painted over the original charcoal sketch of the deer, so it is sketched again with charcoal just to remind me of the size and location of it. I'll do a more detailed and accurate painting of it later.

Georgous! I love these progression pictures! Can't wait to see more! I'm sure the homeowner is equally as anxious! Do they ever just stand around and watch?

We missed you too Ruth. I would be happy if some of my finished pieces looked as good as your roughs
