Andrew, thank you for taking the time to writing this article. It certainly answers a lot of questions for me. I'm one for going out and buying new blades when one gets dull. This will save me a fortune.

Well written and concise, Andrew... Good job.

I think the strop idea is great. Thank you for that tip (no pun intended)...

Not as comprehensive as I would have liked it to be, but I will get it in the first revision... I was kind of testing the article publishing system out, it is a little different.

I have a couple more articles 'in the works', mostly revisions of 'stuff' that I have written for other purposes, that should be of interest to printmakers and to potential printmakers. Now that I am somewhat comfortable with the article publishing system...

This is very good instruction and it includes some great tips. It's always very good to get expert advice from someone so knowledgeable and skilled as you are. Thanks so much.

Re: Sharpening and Repair of Lino/Woodcut Tools

Looks like someone is really searching old thereads!!

That is a good idea, as a lot of great information gets buried from time to time with all of our chatter- Not that my information is great

Andrew this is excellent!

I have an oil sharpening stone on it's way. I don't have a strop yet, but will be on the look out now. I was going to be looking for a way to hone my some of my new tools. As always you are a great asset to us all.

All you need is a piece of tanned leather- It doesn't have to be an 'official' strop !!

Re: Sharpening and Repair of Lino/Woodcut Tools

Hi,

I just found this article and thread and have a question. I have a sharpening stone but I've always used it without any lubrication. How can you tell if it's supposed to be used with water or oil? Here's a pic of mine, although not the best pic I ever took.

Janis

Does anyone know how to use a handheld printing press? I put a piece of linoleum down with paper on top to print, and push the lever--but get hardly anything as a result! There were no instructions when I bought it online, and no person from the company could answer my question. I felt like I spent money for nothing!
