Marbling paper

http://www.wetcanvas.com/Articles2/2330/463/

Wow, what a great article!

I used to do some in scholl but have since forgotten how to do it! I thought it needed a special paint.

Thanks for the great article

Glad you liked it. It does need special paint. I buy the acrylic paint from Pro chemical but you can also marble with watercolors and oil paints. Thanks for the feedback.

Thumbs up Nice article on Marbeling!!!

Shari, you truly have this down to an artform, wow!

http://www.wetcanvas.com/Articles2/2330/463/

Teaching this as a project in schools...we used to simply use oil paints on a water surface. The results are good, but ooohhhh what a mess.

Today, many art teachers teach students to drop or pour small liquidy acrylic colors into a tray of liquid starch.

Unfortunately the neat patterns made on the surface do not transfer or hold well on the paper as well as the messier oil methods, but it gives students some idea.

It is interesting though to see how the more serious artist with marbeling approaches this art form more seriously. Well done article, and impressive results!

Re: Making Marbled Paper

I'm on my way to read it.......BUT.....LARRY! can you tell me more about the oils on top of water? Any particular temperature and what kind of paper? I am guessing you do NOT rinse it? I'm up for KISS marbled paper...

EDIT--Shari, wonderful article!! I love what you are doing. I've used paste papers I make for my journal making but have so wanted to learn marbeling.
The problem is I have too many balls in the air as most artists do!!
