Summer Paintings

Our art club will be having the fall art show and sale in another month so I wanted to get some perspective on a few watercolours I did over the summer. Don't ask why they are all of winter scenes - we've had a rainy cold summer, maybe that's why. I do appreciate the C&C. Thanks.

Mine too. You are lucky to live in such amazing scenery.

Re: Summer Paintings

Thanks Jan and Doug for the kind comments.
Yes, you're right the scenery is spectacular here. The 2nd and 3rd paintings are from pictures I snapped with my cellphone on the way to/from Lake Louise last ski season. The 1st picture is from a park that is within the city limits, where I'd gone walking with a friend. fyi, I wasn't driving

I particularly like the first one. Beautiful snow scenes all.

Re: Summer Paintings

Thanks Kate. I was trying to lead the viewer into the far-off mist of the creek.
It's interesting to see the different perspectives of members, based on where they live. Whereas someone in Europe might view the centuries old buildings as pretty normal, hardly worth painting at all, the exact same building could be very interesting for someone from North America. Similarly, what we have in abundance (marvellous mountain vistas, for example), we may not value highly simply because it is so abundant. One of the ladies at an art class last year actually remarked "No more effing Mountains!".
I still see the grandeur and beauty of the mountains and the wild spaces here, and love to paint them.

Re: Summer Paintings

All three are lovely, but I particularly like the aerial perspective in the first.
