*** Daily Wash Monday 9th September 2019 ***

Good morning all from rainy West Lancashire.

We are having a day out today travelling to the Ribble Valley by coach with the Probus club for a tour of the Pendle Witch country followed by a meal at the Calf's Head near Clitheroe.

Good day all,

A nice day today.

Doug, enjoy the tour. I've read several books on the Lancashire witches. I believe there was a dig near you on a witch's house foundation just a few years ago.

Terrible fires in Australia. Hope all are safe.

Digging up boulders again today.
Bill

Re: *** Daily Wash Monday 9th September 2019 ***

A good Monday to all........extreme heat alert for today along with an air quality alert (ozone)........good day to just stay inside.

No big plans.....other than staying cool and inside.

Lisa found an artificial palm for sale on line for her "she shed screened porch" about 50 minute drive away....enjoyed a leisurely drive on the back roads there and back. I was skeptical at first about it being artificial, but it's actually a very high quality potted palm rendition. She found a manufacturer sticker on the bottom and found that it retails for close to $200 and she got it for $25. It looks brand new. The lady selling it said she and her husband were down sizing "everything", sent their last child off to college, sold their 5,000 + SF home, had purchased a Class A custom RV and were hitting the road for a year or two......anyways, Lisa is happy. God help us if she finds a surf board for sale..............

Breakfast, meds, feed the critters......run Lisa to work. Time to get moving. Greetings to all here and those to come......have a great day, evening or night accordingly.

Be good, do good.......
Steve.

Good Morning!!

Sun cloud mix forecast with a high of 19C.

Last night's dinner went well, company didn't leave until ten so the dishes are my first chore of the day.

I never got the laundry done, will do it today and I have Puppy lunch/pee duty today and table tennis later in the afternoon.

Doug, enjoy your trip. too bad that the weather isn't so good.

Bill, re the boulders, is that a "make work" project

Annie, good to hear that the air is clear, means the fire is far away and hopefully stays that way and even more hopefully goes out altogether.

Kay, you are doing sooo well

Sylvia, so glad the fridge got in without any problems.

Sharon, that is a lovely chair, the lady and dog don't look too bad either

Steve, I hope your heat doesn't make its way up here. Good buy on the palm. Has Lisa started her exercise program yet?

Hi Geoff!!

Uschi

Re: *** Daily Wash Monday 9th September 2019 ***

Good Morning! It's only 12C and, yes, I have the windows open. I love that we don't have either the air conditioner or the furnace running. Poor Ted, having lost a lot of weight, is feeling the cold. He's given in to the long pants and long sleeved shirts with a sweater over that. I'm barefoot and wearing capris or shorts.

We cleaned, sliced and dried the first of our garlic yesterday. I'll grind it to powder today. I found a hydrangea reference in my photos that I zoomed to macro. I'm going to paint it today thinking it might just be perfect for my workshop that's coming up in a couple of weeks.

Yesterday's Wash was a nice, busy one. I love that some of our Lurkers are stopping by to introduce themselves and chat a little. See? We don't bite!

Ellen, that's really a big job done and done!

Bill, there are lots of babies in this world attributed to storms and blackouts. Our home is situated on the edge of a former gravel pit. We get a LOT of big stones and boulders emerging all on their own.

for careful and knowledgeable delivery people, Sylvia!

Nancy and June.

Sharon, you and Monet look comfortable in your pretty new chair.

Lynn, MA and Doris are/were WC Members! Mary Ann headed up our Round Robin project and Doris illustrated a children's book sharing those paintings with us.

Betty, if it's dry, those lightening flashes are dangerous eh? Congratulations to your Daughter and Granddaughter!

Hi Attigran!

Kay, doesn't it seem like some things that should be simple to accomplish require a lot of effort and energy? Leftovers often taste better next day.

Lulu, how wonderful that your Grandson's first day of school was grand!

Sherry, that photo is precious and just priceless!

Doug, what a perfectly British day you'll be enjoying!

Hiya Geoff and Annie (breathing easier)!

Steve, didn't it feel great to enjoy a relatively normal day... going for a Sunday drive without any undue stress and pain? Stay cool today.

Uschi, firstly for getting that wall washing done!!! You have a busy day ahead of you...

I'm going to fill my second cup of coffee and then get on with my day. I hope yours is the very best possible!!

Re: *** Daily Wash Monday 9th September 2019 ***

Good Morning all,
It is almost 8:30 a.m. on a bright sunny but cool morning here in Oakwood. Larry is out on his morning walk.

I have my new gallery-wrapped canvas ready and drawn to work on in class today after finishing my stairs painting.

Our fridge is still cooling itself down, the directions say not to load it for 24 hours, so it is standing empty at the moment. It is so much quieter than our old one was, I keep checking to make sure it is running. It is a 22 cu ft Whirlpool with a bottom freezer. I'm looking forward to getting it loaded and the kitchen cleared up.

Steve, sounds like Lisa got a lovely palm for her study at a really good price.
She needs a bit of good luck like that after her pain with the back.

Uschi, When we used to have dinner parties, we were usually so keyed up and awake when everyone left, we always cleaned up the kitchen before heading for bed. It made it easier the next morning when that excited feeling of the dinner party had left.

to all,

SYL,

Sylvia

Good evening all, you the fires are horrific. They are not close to me, and I am not at risk, but I am in the middle. I just saw a message on FB my friend at Peregian Beach on the Sunshine Coast has a fire heading right for her. This fire is very fast moving, the high winds are fanning it.
This is the latest message
⚠️ PEREGIAN SPRINGS - 9:30pm.
🚒 Currently 69 fire crews on scene, another 29 are still in coming from anywhere that can spare them.
UPDATE 10:00pm: 🚒 101 vehicles currently on scene.
UPDATE EVERYONE GET OUT NOW!!

It is just awful, I have no other words.. I am scared for everyone.

The winds are just dreadful, and definitely not clear down in the city. I am breathing, eating, smelling dust, it is horrible. Everything in my house is covered in dust, and was several minutes after cleaning lady had dusted. I told her to leave it, fighting a losing battle. My car is coated.

What a bargain for Lisa. Good she is happy Steve.

Geoff, we desperately need that rain.

Uschi, Char and all.

I need to get to bed, I have a 7.45am dental appointment. ugh!

Re: *** Daily Wash Monday 9th September 2019 ***

everyone,
It is 3 but going up to 18 and no rain for a change. A friend is coming over shortly to see if she can use some huge frames that have been sitting in my basement for years. Iím trying to find people who can use them at the art club.

I meet the boysí bus today but I have a few house chores to do before that. The piles of unwanted books are delivered to Value Village and the art club. Now I have to tackle the two other shelving units in another room that hold our movies and Knick knacks. They will mostly need dusting and organizing then vacuuming the rug after.

It wonít be long before I have to take out the screens and clean the windows for winter. Brian hasnít fixed a large crack in our front steps so Iíll have to watch some videos on repairing cement and get to that this week as long as the rain holds off. Fall adds urgency to outside jobs. Iím hoping for a few days of warm weather still. I want to collect seeds from the garden for my sister but they arenít ready yet.

Not much else of interest going on here so Iíll just wish you all a great start to the week and hope the fires in Australia get under control soon.

Re: *** Daily Wash Monday 9th September 2019 ***

HELLO EVERYONE

I'm feeling a bit chilled myself this morning. Our temps will be creeping up this week into the high 80's & 90.

Today I'm prepping for a colonoscopy on Tuesday. It's going to be a long day. A routine test & I have no reason to think it will not be OK but I'll be glad when it is over. Procedure is for 1PM Tuesday.

I've got a lot of papers to shred from our going thru things so I will work on those today. I hate being stuck like this & not being able to leave the house.

Yesterday we bought our little travel size toiletries for the airplane ride to Tuscon. Today I'm ordering a pair of shoes from Easy Spirit Mary Jane style walking shoes. I needed a new pair of shoes & I like being able to just velcro them & no untying at the airport TSA lines.

Unbeliveable weather across the globe these days.

OH I saw yesterday where Nita Engle Watercolor Artist from Michigan passed away at age 94. Fantastic artist.

Well time to get this day started.

Take care everyone & be safe

Anita

Re: *** Daily Wash Monday 9th September 2019 ***

Uschi, the boulders (just big rocks) were placed around an ash tree that had to be cut down. I had flowers planted in the space. Now, it's just in-grown rocks and weeds. I plan to clean it up and cover it with white stone gravel.

Steve, I envy the new RV'ers. I sometimes dream of doing just that.

Char, too cold for me to open windows. I don't blame Ted for dressing up. I Though harvesting and cleaning garlic was way too much trouble, so I'll just buy the canned jar from Costco from now on.

Anita, nice to hear from you. RIP Nita Engle. I have always loved her work.

Re: *** Daily Wash Monday 9th September 2019 ***

Same weather as Uschi I have foot care and some errands this afternoon, and of course a package is being delivered Since I have paid the customs on it (shoes in my size I can't get here) I hope they will leave it. Otherwise it is pickup 20 miles from here

Hope the weather clears for you Doug. That's a trip I'd like to go on!

Sounds like Lisa is feeling much better Steve, that was a great find!

Laundry and dishes my chores today too Uschi. Enjoy the puppy

I've got more clothes on today too Char, cool now but as soon as the sun comes out I'll have to draw the blinds, it gets hot in here. I love it in the winter though, sun reaches right into the kitchen through the pass through window!

Lovely fridge Sylvia, I am a bit jealous. my little one keeps going though, it is low enough for me to put my microwave on top, and I don't have much counter space for it.

Such a worry, those fires, JJ, I hope your friend is OK

I need some of your energy, Ellen

Hi Anita! Sorry to hear about Nita.

Bill, my parents did just that, and if I'd had a partner who was interested I would have too. Dad retired at 62 and they took off for 12 years each winter, first in a 13ft trailer and a little truck, with all dad's jewellery making stuff and mum's painting stuff, then bigger gear. Mexico, Arizona mostly, until Mexico trailering got too dangerous. Even after they settled they did 3 mo stints in Mexico and Florida as well. I kind of wish I had done it too, but I have a great circle of activities here, and my kids. But I still have itchy feet

Lovely photo Sherry, great catch!

I hope everyone has a good day!
