Re: any1 impart wisdom on plaster paris how it behaves as a medium?
I haven't tried plaster of paris but I use pre-mixed joint compound, (for drywall work), and palette knives for texture and then paint over it with acrylics when dry. I haven't tried mixing it with paint but I use it in combination with clay to do sculpturey type paintings. I have pieces that are over a year old and have shown no signs of cracking and it seems to stick to anything. Lately I have been using Sculpey for bits and pieces on paintings. If you need them on the thicker side it can be rolled out and put over a form made of crumpled foil, worked with modeling tools and baked in the oven for 15 minutes then glued in place.
