Amethyst Cavern 6 Cliffs

This is probably pushing the limits of mixed media, but I found this metal at a rock shop called Bismuth Crystal and it is the color of the Amethyst Caverns so here we go again. This is small, at 7"x6" and a few hours from being done depending on whether I decide to put gems in here and there. I'll cross post on Fantasy. It's hard to get a good picture. Is it just too much?

Way cool! So much depth for such a small piece. How did you do the stairs and the dripping waterfall? ? It looks like the entrance to a magical world.

Re: Amethyst Cavern 6 Cliffs

The big part of the cliffs are aluminum foil wrapped in sculpey with the stairs and stuff modeled in and then baked and glued on the panel and the bismuth crystals are glued to the top of the cliffs. The waterfall is made of glue, which dried clear but will be painted. Last night I added a little landing at the bottom with a ramp going down into the river. Sculpey again. The other texture is joint compound. I'm really excited about this one and am trying to think of a good way to frame it with a hidden LED light strip to make those crystals really glow. The paints are mostly iridescent or metallic.
