Two landscapes

Hello--
Beginner and self-taught. Wish to get feedbacks from you all.



Arches Cold press 5*7 inches
Winsor, Daniel Smith, M Graham assorted paints
Reference pictures are from Pixabay


Used salt to create beach sand and front land of the lake.
Beach texture and water Waves are still difficult for me.


Suggestions on improvement will be appreciated.

You did well with both. More sky would be better on the first and more distinct light and shade on the posts in the second.

We often have to alter references to get a better composition.

You've done a nice job on the water and the boat Alice. If you lift some of the color out of the center mountain in the distance it will make your foreground stand out more.
