Tracing White Tara

This is a project I have in mind but not able to execute due to lack of materials.

The aim of this project is to trace an subject outline. Recently, I manage to get hold of a canvas with the specific design printed. I am thrilled with this acquisition and start on this interesting journey.

This thread is just to document down and share the tracing progression. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do. I am both excited and looking forward to the day of its completion.

Re: Tracing White Tara

The first step is both exciting and stressful. I have not worked on canvas before but it is a good thing that I was provided with a small canvas patch for practising.

For this project, I have decided to use silver and gold ink pen for tracing the outlines.

The first object in this project is completed.

Re: Tracing White Tara

Using same approach, the bottom section of the design is completed. This is about 1/4 of the canvas length.

Re: Tracing White Tara

Update:

Outline of subject completed

Continue work on individual elements. Due to the use of metallic ink, to create a cloud like effect, dots were used.

Re: Tracing White Tara

Canvas size is appox. 80cm by 60cm.
I am using uniball 0.8mm gold and silver.
Ideally, I need 0.5 or finer tip but uniball does not have it.
I have tried pental and a few brands but only the uniball ink is suitable for this type of canvas.

Re: Tracing White Tara

Thanks Carol!

Here's an update. The main clouds are completed. Currently thinking if all the clouds to be textured or just the ones near the main subject.

Proceeding to texture the lotus flower.

Re: Tracing White Tara

A close up view of the lotus flower. Using of dots to overlay to create basic depth and texture.

Completed lotus flower. Moving on to the smaller details such as the leaves and the rocks. I am thinking of using lines instead of dots for the texturing as the area of these smaller objects are small so dots might not be suitable.

Re: Tracing White Tara

Thanks you talisman!

Another update. I was planning to wrapped it up but upon observation, decide to complete the texturing of the clouds in the upper portion to balance it out. Reaching the finishing line soon!

This is the clean up image.

A basic filter is applied to tone down the yellow and mute the background. I like the toned down effect.
