Failed Yorkie

I had a request to paint a pet Yorkie for a family member. First, I chose a reference photo that didn't really capture the dog's personality. So, even if I had painted it well, the portrait would not be right.

Second, I let my colors get away from me; and it will be hard to backtrack for accuracy. However, I'll still play with this painting and see if I can rescue it.



The good news: my second attempt was much better. That image is in the gallery.

I sympathise, it's usually something like shadows that throw you off.

Yes, Doug. Thanks. The ref pic for this painting had a bright flash, so there was lots of reflection.
