Cleaning and varnishing alcohol ink on claybord

I really like this 16 x 20 piece I did of alcohol ink on Claybord. Despite using gloves, I got fingerprints on the surface. I'd like to get rid of them but am not sure how to do that without disturbing the ink.

I usually spray an archival UV varnish and also Kamar varnish. Will those help the fingerprints, or do I need to get rid of them before?

And how can I remove the fingerprints? I don't have any ideas beyond a barely damp cloth, and I'm hesitant to even try that.

I would prefer to see what the fingerprints look like before giving a definitive answer...it depends on whether they are on a white background, on a relatively "quiet" area of the piece, or on a busy section. The busier it is, the more you can get away with gentle smearing with a barely damp q-tip (dipped in alcohol, of course, not water).

Spray with a varnish will most likely emphasize the prints more if the piece has no other texture. Would like to see a pic too.

Whatever you end up trying, ideally you should test your cleaning materials and technique(s) first on another surface. Safest starting point is a dry cloth, then plain water on a cotton cloth, then more aggressive stuff.
