Another folded book experiment

A friend sent me this link to instructions for a folded pocket book.

It took me a couple of attempts to get a reasonable result. For this one I used three A4 pages of computer paper, painted with inks - pink on one side, green on the other. I used it as a tiny photo album for a new great grandchild, adding a paper flower to the front and some photos slipped into the pockets.

I made some slight modification to the instructions and these can be found on my blog here.

Re: Another folded book experiment

Thanks Cyndi, Kay, Ladypainter. The flower is not that difficult. Just a couple of flower shapes (one small, one larger) cut out of thin card (even computer paper will do), sprayed with a little water, corners of the petals folded over and left to dry. The centre was a tiny scrap of wet tissue paper, scrunched up and painted. Voila! A dab of glue (or glue dots) to stick them altogether.

The leaves are cut out of scraps of green painted paper.

Beautiful and creative! I'd never have the patience!

Viewed your blog too! Wow, you do some awesome artwork. Love the india ink and gouache effects. May have to try that one!

Re: Another folded book experiment

Thanks Carly. I enjoyed visiting your website. I often paint random backgrounds and then attempt to add my subject on top, but am still struggling with getting it "right". I think I end up trying to be too literal.
