Waiting on the 10:15 train

I found this gentleman several years ago on a trip to southern France. Nothing unique except he has a well formed face and I love that white hair (it's like looking in the mirror) LOL. It is always instructive to post photos on the web and i generally find things I want to change. i think I will lighten the dark lines around his eyes....they are too dark ....but that is easily changed. It's a half sheet of Arches 140# HP. If you see anything else you would suggest changing, please speak up.
thanks, atlee

Re: Waiting on the 10:15 train

I always feel I could have a very interesting conversation with the people you paint, even if it's just that they tell me a bit about their life story.

What a wonderful portrait. I do agree the lines under the eyes could be a little less dark. He reminds me of someone dear to me who passed away many years ago. Good work!

I think the lines under the eyes are perfect, if I would change anything, it would be to add a little more shadows in the hair. Great work!

Another of your gorgeous, vivid and so natural portraits.
Always looks like the are in the middle of a movement, not posing.

Atlee, I agree with Brad. The lines under the eyes work for me, but a few deeper tones at the base of the hair on top of the head might help. Remarkable painting, regardless. Always a pleasure to view.

Harmon, last night I took a little adventure, I went back to your earliest posts and move forward through time ,,, after a while I skipped some cause you are very prolific ,,,I just wanted to compliment you on top of all the other compliments,,,I first started seeing your work about 5-6 years ago and never looked at your past stuff, it was awesome and inspiring to see how you developed ,,,thanks again for sharing with us,,,this is my first post ever that spell checker didn't kick in
