Rain about here too. Struck down by some infection that makes my head ache and bright light a no-no. On course of Doxycycline. Hope it does the trick as short break in North Wales starts tomorrow. Will try to keep in loop.

Re: *** Daily Wash Tuesday 11th September 2018 ***

HELLO EVERYONE

Cats just woke me up ----seems they are not happy unless they wake me up at this time

Yesterday morning I had my Retina Specialist appt. My R. eye I could read way down on the eye chart but L. eye not so much. He said that I still had edema to retina about the same as last couple of months.

He asked me how long I had been on Avandia & I had let them know of the med change in June. I was told I have to come off of it because he thinks that it is causing the edema to eye. So I guess I will have to schedule another Dr. appt & I think I have run out of oral meds for Type 2 so I predict some kind of injectable will now be needed. I held off as long as I could. We shall see.

I started sorted out more books in craft room. Have a load of them ready to go to booth space today. On Sunday I took down some Halloween decor items that I ran across from cleaning out Fall tubs in garage. I staged on whole bookshelf with these items. Sunday evening got a sales email ----I sold half of them that afternoon. So if nothing else this is giving me a spot to sale items that I could not get a $$$$ for at garage sale prices & would not get any $$$$ on if donated so it is paying for itself.

I'm itching to be able to start doing some crafting. Patience

It finally stopped raining here yesterday morning but was gloomy & chill all day. House was just so damp & chill. At 4pm I turned on the heat. We have had forecast for near 84 degrees by weekend but with more east coast hurricane activity coming I'm not sure.

Will check back in later

Anita

Good evening all on this most awful anniversary.

Quiet day today. Roger filled the washing machine and dryer, so he can empty them sometime in the distant future. As a peace move, I suggested we went out for lunch at the local cafe. At 11.30 I noted Eli was already napping inside, Loki was sitting on the verandah railing glowering at the world, so I picked her up, upside down as she tried to escape, and put her inside. Roger was laughing so much. DId you see her face? I saw the other end.

Then we walked down, don't worry ... no one saw ..., to the cafe and had the most delicious hamburgler with chips. Also a national heart foundation iced coffee.

Stagger home and nanny naps. Loki must have forgiven me because she came for cuddles later in the afternoon.

Rod, yours may be wet, but ours is spin, fluff and bumble.

Mike, hope recovery is swift.

Anita

The demonisation of Serena Williams continues. All I will say is that she was probably right but losing the plot about it wasn't the best look. I'll love her forever for telling the crowd to stop booing and applaud the Japanese girl who had won. Australias cartoon was simply unfair. But hey, the cartoonist is now famous or infamous ... whatever.

Re: *** Daily Wash Tuesday 11th September 2018 ***

Hey everyone... I have a lovely morning, with the group sketching in a suburb called Red Hill. You can see what I did here..

I had to take two buses to get from the Southside of the city to the Northside for this sketchout. I asked the bus driver if he knew where Windsor Road was, and he point across the road from where we were. So, I headed across busy Kelvin Grover road and up the street a little feeling unsure. I asked some school children if the knew where Windsor road was, but they didn't. I nice young man came along and I asked him, and he told me I was going in the wrong direction.

So I about turned and headed back across Kelvin grove road and followed his directions. 15 minute walk up hill and down dale I arrived at the cafe and ordered a much needed coffee. John, who also lives on the Southside arrived. He drove. He didn't want to walk the route I did hahaha

So after sketching and lunch he offered me a lift. I thought he was going to drop me off in the city, but he didn't. He drove around the block and dropped me off at a bus stop on Kelvin Grove road again. So I waited for 20 minutes for the bus, and headed back to the city. Bus drops me off in Adelaide Street (Annie will know where I am and have been) another walk coming up, over Queen Vic bridge to the Cultural Centre where I needed to be to catch ms back to Cannon Hill.

Another long wait. Sheesh. Finally got back to my car just after 2.00pm. Boy I am not fond of sketching on the Northside.

I didn't drive over, because the traffic from my place to the city is a 5km crawl. arrrrgh.

On the bright side I got my 10,000 steps up
I am beat and am going to have some quiet time, before bed..

Re: *** Daily Wash Tuesday 11th September 2018 ***

Good Morning all,
It is just past 5:30 a.m. here in dark and cool Oakwood. Put my blanket on the bed last night for the first time this year. Temps will be going up to the 80°Fs/26°Cs this week again though.

I'm off to the dentist this morning. A piece of my front top tooth broke off. When we went for our checkup and cleaning last week, I asked him about it. He thinks he can repair it fairly easy to keep it from chipping further. it works.

Uschi, Larry thinks he has the new washer working OK now. He put two old cutting boards under the back legs to even out the slope of the floor toward the drain in the floor behind the laundry sink. Now that it is level, it is working well and he is satisfied (I won't call it happy yet).

Char, I like to use a combo of Granny Smith apples for tartness with Gala or other variety of apple for a bit of sweetness when I make my apple crostata. I've switched to that rather than apple pies because it is so much easier and my family thinks it is tastier too.

Congratulations on the sale of the Halloween goods, Anita. Hope you can get your edema problem solved.

Today is a sad day for us here as we remember the horror of the attacks against the World Trade Center towers, the Pentagon, and the plane that was brought down by the passengers in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, when they fought the terrorists who had taken it over and were heading it toward Washington, D.C..

to all who were here before me and to those still on their way.

SYL,

Sylvia

Good day all,

Yes, a sad day to remember but must not be forgotten.

((Mike))

There is a double standard in mens/women's tennis, and we all have the right to lose it once in a while. Why can't the women just wear shorts like the men, and slacks in golf, too? Not that I find it distracting.

JJ, nice sketch. You sure get around.

Sylvia, hope your tooth is repairable. The best way to eat apples.:smacking lips:

Anita, I've lost track of how many cats you have. Cats never woke me as I always kept their bowl full.

Watched an interview with Bob Woodward last night. Scary !!

Must run into town and argue with the telephone company today. With no service I'm missing out on all the telemarketers' calls.
Bill

You are missing out Bill.

Why can't the men wear little flip skirts and frilly panties? I would watch the grunt fest then.

Good morning early! I have to leave the house in 20 minutes for the semi-annual blood draw. I have some powdered donuts to eat right after in my purse. I don’t want to faint before I get to see the doctor.

Have read the first two chapters. Those of you waiting to read the book will not be disappointed.

Our forecast has changed from sunny to rain all week with temperatures in the 70s. I will take it!

Have a great day!

Re: *** Daily Wash Tuesday 11th September 2018 ***

A good Tuesday to all.....cool here this morning 61°, overcast, but dry. High of 78° today called for.

Hopefully, I'll be able to start the wall framing of the shed today.....my schedule is way off.

Bill's right....it is one of those sad anniversaries today. I think most American remember exactly where they were and what they were doing on this morning 17 years ago....much like or parents and grandparents vividly remember what they were doing when they were informed about Pearl Harbor.....they difference being, they had to wait for news papers to publish photos......we watched it in real time.....live....in color. I was at work. The TV on the wall in my office was on....the young architect I was mentoring was going over some presentation materials we would use at a working lunch meeting with the Mayor and the City's Redevelopment Commission. The "Breaking News" alert came on....it was 7:50 (CT). The first plane had already plunged into the North Tower. There was confusion...was it a small private plane, was it a military plane....was it a commercial airliner.....was it an accident? Surely it was an accident....then we watch the second jetliner, the sun glistened off its wings as it banked. It disappeared into the South Tower...it was 8:03 (CT). At 8:15 the Mayor's office called to cancel our luncheon meeting. The partners of the design firm closed the office for the day.....we all sat glued to the TV in the conference room. The normal busy morning phone calls were absent........the phone lines were silent. Even the traffic out in the street in front of our office was missing. We watched in silence as the South Tower collapsed, as smoke bellowed out of the Pentagon....we watched as a news crew showed smoke coming from a field in Pennsylvanian.....we watched as the North Tower collapsed......we watched as the world as we knew it changed. The founding partner of the firm, remarked...."I never thought I'd go through something like this again........". He was a young man when Pearl Harbor happened....his older brother died that day.....he enlisted the day after they found out. He retired for good a year later.........I wonder, what did we learn that day and the days to follow? I'm convinced that with all our marvelous achievements and advancements.....we are an ignorant species, hell bent on self destruction.....it's not a question of "if", it's merely a question of "when". For those who died this day 17 years ago, may I Am grant you rest....for your loved ones left behind, may I Am grant them peace.

Greetings to all here and those to come.........may your day be uneventful.

BBL

Be good, do good......it's the right thing to do.

Steve.
