Okay I have had it, the rat has chewed a hole thru my basement wall.

am going out tomorrow and getting my hunting and fishing license again and buying a gun to shot rats, that seem to be hanging around the front of my house. Johnny always told Brian, be careful she is a dead on to the tee target shooter. When I was always doing target practice with John I always hit the bullseye

Good morning Ros, Sharon.

Seems a bit drastic but I sympathise, we laid traps and finally rat poison down and hopefully they have got the message now. It's much more fun to live a mile away by the canal.

Here are my red hot pokers - 3 months late flowering to brighten your day.

They look lovely Doug.

Rats? Exclusion works best and fairest. I remember at work many years ago the pest "experts" came in because someone said there were rats in the roof space. They laid poison. It was summer. The decomposing dead possum dripped through air vents in some rooms for a week. The pest control experts declined to go into the roof space because it stunk. Another company with stronger stomachs did clear it and gave a stern warning to the boss about use of poisons.

Everybody wanted a gun for the first experts, Sharon but .... they may have stink too.

Good job Rod

Loved seeing your paper bags Betty. Yes, a forgotten hose will empty a finite water supply fairly quickly. Lucky yours wells up again. We have to wait for rain.

Re: *** Daily Wash Monday 10th September 2018 ***

Rats need food and shelter, deny them both and they will move on.
A dairy I worked for was absolutely scrupulous about having no pallets
or waste paper/cardboard, waste food left outside. People who were lazy about getting stuff to proper storage were suspended or dismissed.
I never saw any vermin or evidence of vermin in the time I was with them.
No food, No shelter, No Vermin.

Re: *** Daily Wash Monday 10th September 2018 ***

These rats have no, shelter and if they moved into the basement where they dug a hole, they will find a 22 lb. cat that I inherited from my son 4 years ago, that has never been outside or scene a mouse or rat, 1450 sq feet of finished space, with a bedroom, sauna, and another bathroom. Instead they have been living in my family room wall, main floor.

I have blocked the basement hole that they chewed thru and put out a warfin trap, so hopefully they will drown themselves in my 2 bird baths or my pool!

I have never had this problem in my life time. Bats yes, but went into the attic and hung fishing line with tin foil. century home.
attached and threw 24 moth balls around 50 years ago and they were gone in 2 days.

Exclusion or poison?

Ps I hate the word vermin, except for blackadders friend ... Or was that something else? the dwarf film. It was only a name there.

Whatever about my memory. Vermin, so called, are creatures trying to live in our altered landscapes.

Includes humans lately. Syria and Yemen. Different exterminators or the same? Iran and the ever opportunistic Russia in Syria and Saudi and whoever in Yemen.

Getting a bit cross about states of affairs so, , finally.

Vermin should be a banned word. Thus said the woman now sheltering under the umbrella of PC ... you should have heard what I said in the rain

I hope everyone is well

I had a lovely morning with a few Greeter friends at Roma Street Parklands for International Greeters day.

I went to Curves this afternoon when I came home. I am really enjoying it, such a wonderful positive bunch of women..

Uschi, I loathe crowds, I have panic attacks sometimes..

Steve hugs. It is awful isn't it. I take deep breaths, and close my eyes and think of a forest, works sometimes. I just hate sardine crowds, really sets me off.

Wowsers Betty what a glorious sight!

I had better go pack my art bag, we are sketching on the Northside tomorrow Red Hill..

Re: *** Daily Wash Monday 10th September 2018 ***

Just lost a long epistle of methyl bromide fumigation techniques....and preventing ingress of small furry animals....won't repeat story.

Bought a couple of cooked half chickens on short date and already have some dated chicken breasts and king prawns...so a couple of days of assorted Geoff recipes as Eileen not really up to much cooking. Think Chicken,Sweetcorn and rice for starting today....probably a stir fry or two to follow and finish with a pasta dish.....then look for some more meat! I might sneak in a Kashmiri chicken curry which has coconut in,which Eileen doesn't like!

Re: *** Daily Wash Monday 10th September 2018 ***

everyone,
Another sunny day with a high of 22 even though itís only 4 right now.

Gym this morning followed by some errands. First though is cleaning my fridge because itís garbage day. I want garbage with a lot of food picked up right away so it doesnít attract bears. At least our pests are easy to see and they donít get into the walls.

I have to meet the school bus this afternoon so it will either be a repeat of last night for supper or we get pizza. Last night we had hot dogs from a local business that smokes their own meats as well as making other great food. You know the only meat in them is high quality, not like you get at the grocery store.

I better get breakfast and start my day. I hope you all have a great start to your week.
