Shutterbug Pub Daily, Sunday, September 9, 2018

Hey it's 55 degrees outside and I am wearing my nice warm cozy slippers that I crocheted for myself last year. I deleted more duplicates from my files last evening but came across a few that I will post during the month. Here's one that didn't get cut and deleted.

So it's past noon here in Michigan, so much for the Early Bird Catches the Worm.

Blessing to you all on this Sunday and everyday,

LORELL

3:00am, my time is my own, went to bed early to recover from yesterday, shooting and editing boy's toys took its toll on the old boy.
Your early bird looks bedraggled but cute, he evokes a note of empathy, I'm not as cute but I know just how he feels!

Well I'll follow your bird theme, Lorell, kookaburras beneath a rising moon, serendipity.

A fine photo, Mark.
It is simple, colorful and interesting. I like the negative space. The moon adds a real nice touch. Good one indeed.

Very nice bird photos today. I love the early bird!
Mark, I have never seen a kookaburra....it reminds me of the kingfishers around here, as far as the head and beak look....but then I don't see those much either, they are very elusive!! As Lorell said, nicely composed! It's been raining all day. That's bad news if we get any of the winds from Hurricane Florence.....the ground being wet, the trees fall easily, and power outages will be a given. The weatherman just said if it takes a more northern turn......it will go right over Maryland....UGH! Not wishing bad weather on anybody, but I sure hope I don't get a direct hit. I hate hurricane season, and this season is sure busy this week!!

Thanks Lorell and Nat'. Kookaburras are related to Kingfishers; we have those here also.

They are the largest of all the kingfishers. They prefer snakes and lizards to fish. https://www.australiangeographic.com...s-kingfishers/

I'm afraid I couldn't get closer and it's not very clear. It looks as if has a white patch on its face.
Without checking out your photo, brushtails are possibly more common but the most prehensile is the ringtail possum.

Edit. I don't know how that happened. I'd have expected my post to have come after Mark's.

Another edit; Your photo isn't as clear as I'd like but dark shots are like that. Try thinking about this: https://www.animalsaustralia.org/iss...ying-foxes.php

It does look much like the flying fox as in your link, but I am unaware of any such populations here in the northeast. Thanks for the link, certainly something to think about.

Victoria isn't the centre of the universe.

Flying foxes have been everywhere long since before we came.

Sorry Peter I cannot figure out how to change the order of the posts since they are in the correct order by time. I am guessing that maybe the two of you were posting during the time that WC backup their files and if I remember correctly, Mark has slow internet so maybe those things have something to do with your post #7 and Mark's #8 got mixed up. Blame it on Hackers or Solar Flares.

Peter, I am sorry that I could not fix it.
