Shorty x post to pastels

I finally finished this portrait of my mother in laws dog Shorty, he's been sitting around for quiet a while waiting for me to finish him. I'm off work at the moment and since I've cleaned as much as any sane person can I've been doing some painting.
8x10 pastel on pastelmat any comments or critique welcome

Very well done. I love those blue tones against the orange in the fur. And the shine on his nose. A very sweet portrait.

Beautiful and what a super little dog! I like your colors - and the dog - very much.
Just a suggestion, as it's pastel: you could slightly soften that harder line in the background (above his head) between the edge of the pastel where your colored pastel ends. It looks like it needs blurring just a little bit to bring the pastel color and background paper softly together.
It's a gorgeous pastel painting of a lively little dog! Your mother-in-law will be delighted with it!

Great pastel, strong, vibrant colour and bright eyes. I agree with Vivien about the background, just those couple of things taking away from this being "absolutely awesome".
