Copper Rabbit (XP from Animal and Wildlife Art)

Hi everyone,

While I'll be posting a new update on my scratchboard steer soon, I thought I'd share a sculpture in the meantime. This is my little Copper Rabbit. I wanted something sort of classic and timeless in this sculpture. An understated, subtle sculpture without too much busyness in the embellishments. So this was the result. This rabbit is made with a bit of steel wire at the base, and copper wire in various gauges. His ears are glass earrings I got in a lot of vintage jewelry. His bow is made up from pieces of earrings. And his little white tail is a glass bead. He measures about 4.5 inches tall by 4 inches long by 1.75 inches wide.

I hope you like him. C&C welcome. Thanks for looking!

So well done - I think the pose and shape really gives it an old world feel - simply beautiful

Awwwww, another cute mini animal. Love the items you used for the trimmings.

Re: Copper Rabbit (XP from Animal and Wildlife Art)

I want to apologize for not replying to these lovely comments sooner. My grandma passed away last week, and it's been a busy but nice time gathered with family in her honor over the past several days. I'm going to miss her very much.

Thank you for the wonderful comments, CaliAnn. I love how you find this rabbit sort of old-world in style. I had in mind some of those classic book illustrations when I was making him. I'm so glad that came through!

Thanks very much, Richard!

Thanks, Jo. So pleased you like him and all his little baubles.

Thank you, Kay. I sifted through my beads for a long time in order to find this white one for the tail.

This is great, Jenna! I've said it a many times, but I will say again...that I truly enjoy and look forward to seeing every new wire sculpture you make. A jackalope next?

That is exactly what came to mind when I first saw this (and still do!) - those old black and white illustrations in books from once upon a time - very classical.

I'm so glad you see it that way, CaliAnn. Those old illustrations are charming, aren't they?
