Spam extortion email

Just wanted you all to know that I received a spam email asking for $1000 related to the porn site that comes up through WetCanvas using my password in the heading. Never visited the site--disgusting--but the individual informed me that 15 of my friends would see that I was enjoying the site. We deleted this email as soon as we saw it. I don't know how security is handled, but this is more than disturbing. I am signed out more than in because of this porn site problem. I may not be a part of WetCanvas anymore if this continues. Anyone else have this problem, and who can I contact about it??

Re: Spam extortion email

Hi all,

Yes, if it is possible to retrieve the email please PM me and we can discuss where to send it or how to retrieve. That would be good as the tech group would want to look at the original email. If not, I'm passing this along. Thank you,

Courtney

Re: Spam extortion email

Just wanted to let you know that the email I received was part of a scam using passwords that were available from an online distributor who obtained them in a hack several years ago. There is an article put out by Apple news that was picked up be 'Business Insider' detailing the scam. I would've ignored it completely except for the porn site that can pop up occasionally on WetCanvas forums. I hope this info helps and that the pop up problem has been resolved.
