WDE 3rd/4th March *Late* Staffordshire Moorlands

Harry, thanks for hosting. Sorry so late. I fully intended to play the challenge. I was going to use PanPastel with large sponges. The paper I chose is Hahnemuhle Velour Pastel paper. It does not like PanPastels but it loves regular pastels and pastel pencil. I gave up very quickly on the original plan. It is 11"X8.5".

At 2 hours. Ick.

After it took on a life of it's own. About 4 hours I guess. Feels a little surreal to me.

The rocks and the sky look really well done to me. The rest looks like it has a low dense fog rolling over the ground. I like it. Thanks for posting.

I like the earlier version its loose and fresh and the drama in the final version is very appealing.

A very mysterious feel to this piece, almost eyrie, great work.

Even though you abandoned your initial plan the broad, bold approach has captured the rugged and dramatic landscape very well. Great sweep and atmosphere. I like it a lot. Thank you for taking up the challenge and posting!

....and to the WEEDERS out there who have not lifted a brush this week GRAB ONE NOW AND GET PAINTING! There’s still time!

The first could stand as is Sue - dramatic, moody, sweeping .. the second is more refined but I like both equally - a stupendous piece of work!

I do like this even though you don't. It has a desolate beauty about it along with a quiet and somber mood.

Lovely rich colours, while still conveying the moody landscape - the movement you've captured... I can feel the wind!
