Several Florals

This is my first time over here. I've been doing florals for quite awhile now, but I generally hang out in the watercolor section, as that is the medium that I use. The first painting is one that I finished yesterday, and the other two were done about a month ago. The first one is 12"x16", the other two are 9"x12" if I remember correctly.

C&C is welcome, and thanks for looking.

Welcome over here! Do stay and join us more often - including our Plant Parade challenges every month!

Love the flowers in the first and the beautiful colour and negative painting .. the X of the colours in the b/g does jump out a it but overall, this is a beauty.

Your second is so different with it's looseness and again, lovely negative painting on the right ..... is the left unfinished?

The clematis colours are lovely - I'd just watch that the b/g doesn't get too fussy and detract from the beauty of the flowers.

Maureen, thanks for your input, it really is appreciated. Yes, the "X" does stand out a bit and I'm mulling over exactly the best way to make that not so obvious. I do need to fix it. The second painting is one of those where the other guy doing the painting, you know the one that tells you when to stop, must have intervened. I guess at the time, it seemed like he was right, maybe this time he wasn't. The third one (dogwood actually), was one of those where I just went crazy with flinging paint. I really had a good time doing that. So be it.

Re: Several Florals

Love the depth on those hibiscus. That has to be tough to do -- I've seen some other hibiscus works that were much flatter or something was just "off" with the attempt to convey how the blossoms form their tubular core. Not the case here, very well done!

Regards,
Dale
