mountain pass

I did this one a couple days ago. Ref pic came from RIL. It is 12x16 inches senns/mungyos on arches cold press. 80% mungyos... I did this scene by finishing up the background first and then added in animals and figure over the top with Senn white to punch a strong highlight from the sun. I put in the animals and figure by loading pigment on the end of a tortillion and also using razor blade to scratch back, thus creating believable figures... C&C is welcome! Thanks for looking.

Re: mountain pass

Great work on the light and shade. Was it the watercolour paper you worked with? I used it in my last drawing and found it impossible to work with. I love the figures.

Re: mountain pass

Thanks everyone!! I really appreciate it.

Tali - I used Arches cold press oil paper. So I think it's different than the watercolour version. My favorite paper so far

Beautiful work, Rich - I like to read about how you attack your details. The background looks great. I love the depth of this painting!
