Use to denote nudity/mature subject matter Nude in Pastel WIP

This was done on watercolour paper.
C&C welcome
there are 3 photos in all.
The figure was drawn in and gold coloured watercolour was placed on top.
The figure was filled in with Mount Vision pastels.
The background was filled in with watercolour. It could just have easily been a pastel background. I would have chosen violet with black on top. The very dark background makes the figure stand out. It is a technique used by artists frequently.
This figure was not drawn from a live model. but from a photo. It was my first attempt at a full figure. I usually do from the neck up. It was difficult to draw the figure in. I put the photo on a grid and the figure was also placed on a grid.

I like that you are not afraid to attempt something new. It is not too late to go back in with pastels on your background and foreground. I think that would be a great exercise. The only other suggestion would be to indicate her knee with a stroke or two.

It looks like gold watercolor was a good choice for your underpainting. I agree with Karen about a little definition of the knee and possibly a hint of the curve of her upper thigh too. You already have a nice rhythm of curves going so a few more would fit right in.

Thanks Donna T and WaterGirl for your comments. It's amazing you picked up on the ned for definition in the knee. I knew there was something not right about the figure but could not figure it out. You hit the nail on the head. Thanks for all your hard work with comments on this forum
