Just eat some candy

Just finished another piece I've been working on, and thought I'd share this as well. I had a blast painting this, and it turned out to be a quick one to paint. And it proved that pastels is the most enjoyable medium to me - at least for now.
This is done on La Carte, 22x15", with a selection of FC, Giraults, Rembrandts and pastel pencils.

Re: Just eat some candy

Never put your focal point in the center of your painting. You did, and you made it work in an amazing way. You are such a clever rule breaker, Merethe. The black, diagonal element is a surprise, subtly pushing your figure forward without screaming, "I am a diagonal dark area". The detailing on the figure looks as if it took days, but you say it worked quickly for you. But that rule breaking, swirling red candy is the star. Well done! Happy to see you back here.

This is so cool! I like that diagonal division of space very much and I can't help but think that the message is that things are never as scary as they seem; everyone has a soft side.

Oh, I love this; it is so clever and so well done! I love the pink you introduced into the stormtrooper's armour; looks like he is blushing :-) This would also make a quirky valentine's card.
