6X8, Oil on Panel
Well, this one has an interesting story. This little stream was located on land recently purchased by family of my GF near Waco, TX. I was informed it was fed by a spring very close by and flowed into a nearby larger stream. All told, this creek was probably well less than 1/4 mile from spring to outlet. I was tad bit surprised to learn it was spring fed because there was very little elevation change being right next to a very flat agricultural field and the flow was quite strong despite it having been somewhat dry lately. But I'm no expert in either hydrology or Texas so I didn't really question the notion at all and proceeded to pick a nice spot that looked like it would be reasonably easy to execute in failing light and falling temperatures. I managed to get this painting reasonably close to finished on site.
About a week later, we found out that the "spring" was actually coming from a ruptured water pipe and had maybe been running like this for years! Thus the name, Mistaken Creek!
