Calm Sea

And here is another copy of Aivazovsky. Seascapes just seem so suited to oil pastels.

Just love that calm sea! Beautiful scene. What size is it?

Re: Calm Sea

Beautifully restful painting. The affect of distance is really good and the composition well thought out. Well done!

Re: Calm Sea

Beautiful! I love your blues.

This has an almost watercolor look to it that is very appealing. I like your square format, too.

Like Christel, I am also curious about the size.

Re: Calm Sea

Thank you all for your lovely comments!

Christel, Terri, this is meant to be a 10x8, painted on a larger paper; I just cropped the photo roughly to the 10x8 size it's supposed to be. This is a gift to my friend, so I am painting to frame/mat size. Also oil pastels are tricky to preserve, so I always paint to frame sizes now. I wish I can work bigger lol.
