Re: Big Oak

I've been looking at this for a few days. It has a "textile" feel to it. Also, paint by numbers or stencils. I really think the colors remind me of wallpaper. That's not a bad thing. It evokes something I cannot quite put a finger on. Can you please explain what you had in mind with your choices? The draftsmanship is spot on, but I would like a bit of a discussion about the colors and style.

Re: Big Oak

Hi Katy,
Thanks for the comments. I guess I was trying for a kind of "Impressionism" style
using different brushes and colors throughout but putting the main focus on the stream reflections. Going for a "Kind of perfect Day"

Re: Big Oak

I really like the painting. I think what Katy means is that there does not appear to be much blending or softening between different color areas. This is indeed a characteristic of a lot of impressionistic art: Different colors are juxtaposed without being blended at their edges. The eye does the blending.

Re: Big Oak

I really like it, I just wondered about the technique used, and if there was any reason for the choices.

Re: Big Oak

If I lean back in my computer chair I am looking at the picture from a whole different perspective and the colors take on a whole new depth, the red tree in particular has a whole depth of color and shadow, rest of the landscape looks quite swampy, so whats a tree like that doing there? it's a grand tree looks like a copper beech. Nice picture ,

Re: Big Oak

I sincerely enjoy the warm feeling the warm colors convey. At the same time this heat is slowed down by the flow of the stream and by the very green trees in the background.
Congratulations.
