Blue Jay ~ paper sculpture

Hello Just wanted to share a mixed media paper sculpture I recently completed.

Blue Jay
Specifications: 14" x 11" mixed media paper sculpture
Card stock and foam core for armature, Prismacolor pencil on Mi-Teints paper for the feathers and other colored elements
Reference photo credit: Terri Bauer, used with permission
2018

After several false starts this year, my first finished sculpture. The feathers are individually colored before being cut and glued to the armature. The tree branch was fashioned the same way.

Thank you for letting me share

Rob

This is excellent, really well constructed! The painted feathers look great and I like the background too, interesting textures. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you so much everyone! The markings on the wings and tail feathers really caught my eye and I thought the pose would make for an interesting sculpture study.

Re: Blue Jay ~ paper sculpture

Thank you very much again.

As a side note, I didn't mean to imply that this is my first paper sculpture. I've been working in this little niche for several years. I've just been in a rut lately of starting projects not being able to finish them. Here's hoping I've found my muse again!
