Ben Franklin (WIP collage)

This will be my second collage. I'll be posting here regularly as I make progress on my portrait of Ben Franklin. It's based on the image on the 100 dollar bill.

First I used the grid method to put down the basic linework for Ben's face(using a pencil). Then I started putting down various bits and pieces of magazines for the background(orange and purple). Now I've moved in closer into his hair, and I'm planning to have some green hues used on the facial area of this portrait soon.

The word "cannon" looks peculiar in the top left corner, I'll probably blend and cover that up a little bit more so it does not look so stark.

Your photos don’t show up on this computer but they do on a more modern device that might be why you have had no response!
I like it when text shows up on a collage, it’s nice if you can find text that enhances the understanding of the subject and gives meaning to what you are doing.
Ben is coming along well at the moment and looks like he will be a very colourful character

Dave.

That is peculiar, maybe because the image files are .png?
Thank you for your very nice comments. As for color, I've been aiming for an orange-purple-green (I think it's called triadic) color scheme. Though I definitely want to do a portrait with more realistic colors in the future.

More progress:

Oskar Kokoschka has some lovely portraits using green and yellow-orange for the face and purple-blue in the background. So, you are in good company!

Re: Ben Franklin (WIP collage)

Interesting, I hadn't heard of Kokoschka before. His portraits seem very somber, which isn't exactly what I aim for in mine!

I have just finished the artwork!

I can also put up a process gif, but I'm not sure if it would load on these forums...
