Shutterbug Pub Daily, Wednesday, January 3rd, 2018

Hi folks!
Never started a daily before but just had an event that seems worthy to share.
A White Throated Sparrow just slammed into my slider window as I was mulling about in the kitchen. I thought he was dead, as he lay on the snow upside down for 30 seconds or so. Then he righted himself and sat there, 1st shot,

then I figured he needed some tlc so I cupped him in my hands and he perched on my left hand, 2nd shot.

Stood there in the sunlight with him for about 15 minutes, (around 20 degrees F, current heat wave believe it or not) and he slowly seemed to gain his senses. Soon thereafter he pooped on my hand and fled to a nearby branch, then back to wherever.
Aaaaalrighty then, mission accomplished.
I hope you are all having a wonderful day/night!

Tim

Poor fellow. Lucky he didn't become cat food.

Rather warm at about the 50 degree mark here. Good day for my beach walk. Traffic has settled down after the holidays. Did my usual 5 mile loop up the bay road then over to the ocean. Lots of eagles flying, ravens, gulls, and many elk tracks.

Tim,
Thanks for starting the daily for us.

You are my hero for the day, Tim.
I think that bird was really thankful for what you did for him by pooping on your hand. You do know that it is good luck when a bird poops on you.
I think I will warm things up one way or another.
This time tomorrow, I hope to be half way to Florida. My sister-in-law and I will be leaving early. We know about the cool temps in Florida but as we do every year, we drive a friend's (92 year old gal) car down for her and then fly back. We bought our plane tickets months ago, so there is no turning back. Although it is only going to be in the 50's and 60's while on Anna Maria Island, Florida, that is a whole heck of a lot warmer than it is here. I hope we are not effected by the storm traveling up the EAST coast. Crossing my fingers and praying a lot.

Looking forward to more views like this one.

Hi Quint,
You snuck in while I was composing.
I was surprised to see you uploaded a beach scene too. We think alike.
Nice warm image. Hope to keep them coming.

Going to Florida,
By the way, for the next 8 days I shall have limited access to the internet. I will NOT be posting any photos since I shall not have my laptop with me. The best I can do is drop in and look at things using a poorly functioning cell phone. Never fear, Ray is here and will be checking in.

Thanks, Lorell. Have a safe and fun trip. I think sandy beaches are on many folk's minds now.

Lovely beach photos, Quint and Lorell.

Safe traveling, Lorell.

Sorry, no photos to share. I've been busy for the past week or so working on a year end analysis of our finances, trying to make my best guess as to what changes we should make in 2018, and gathering to estimate our income taxes. It's been a good year for investments, and I'm I don't know if the bull market will continue in 2018 or if we'll have a big drop.

Wishing you all a healthy and happy 2018.

Tim, at least he left you with a present!! I had one fly into my garage and slam into the window trying to get out. He also recovered and flew off, but left me no "present"
Quint, lucky you! Your weather has me jealous!! Gorgeous beach scenes!! We are about to get slammed with a blizzard, possible 10 inches of snow. YIKES! Not great for my business...more work for me...have to find somebody to plow lanes...feed trucks must come. Which reminds me, as this blizzard is all across the country, trucks delivering things like keilbasa and pierogies might get stopped.....and stuff could spoil. Don't you love Mother Nature and her quirks?
Lorell, your beach scene also has me quivering....I need to retire and move to Florida!! (NOT! I lived 3 years in Tampa, hated the heat and humidity!!) Due to a blizzard about to hit, I may also have limited access to internet, and everything else......safe traveling!!
