Doe in the Snow xp Pastel Spotlight

Doe in the Snow
6" x 8" photo reference by DAK743
Carb Othello pastel pencils on Strathmore toned gray mixed media paper.

I like this paper with pastel pencils, first try with them as all the rest I was using ink and watercolor or gouache. Very good all around paper!

Re: Doe in the Snow xp Pastel Spotlight

You've posted the photo reference by DAK743 here right? I don't see any difference.
This is going to be a WIP, right?

It's a lovely reference, I like the strong shadow across the snow.

Re: Doe in the Snow xp Pastel Spotlight

I am hitting my head on desk. I posted the reference. Then reposted by copy-paste. Perpetuating it right into its own thread.

Here's the actual art.

Pastel pencil on Strathmore Toned Gray heavy paper.

Laugh hard and long. I did not mean to post the reference. I had the art done. Here it is. I was choosing from very small thumbnails and it looked right so I grabbed it.

It's lovely Robert, I like the subtle background and the shadow that definitely suggest snow. Lovely colours on the doe.

Agreed, nice job!
I know how easy it is to hit the wrong file.

Easy to make a mistake Robert. No sweat!!! I must admit though, I thought you had gone into extreme realism. You have captured the gentleness and timidity of the little doe nicely.
