I was once involved, through a friend of a friend, with the publishing of a children's book called "The Tale of Sigmund Toad", a ballad/poem that was being, I think, vanity published, for which I did a few basic illustrations in marker and pen. Sadly, i never got paid as I was naive enough to accept one of those royalty deals, where you get a tiny portion of the sales. I don't think any of them sold, as they were quite high-priced for the type of book, and sadly, the publishers chose to use my lo-res drafts for the final copy rather than the hi-res images I sent them, some sort of mix up I think.
Anyway, the story's about a toad who thinks he never needs anyone's help and doesn't want to work, so he ends up getting fat and soft, and can't get out of a river he falls into until his hardworking toad friends get together to pull him out.
The first of the two here is of the fish trying, and failing, to get Sigmund on their backs;
The second is the heron struggling to haul him up;
