SnowStairs X

OK a new medium for me.....polychromos colored pencils with accents of ink and acrylics.
About 14x16 on illustration board coated with golden pastel ground.
I've done these old steps near where I live in a few other mediums.
The colored pencil really slows you down a bit and patience is needed.....something I lack.
Cheers, Derek

Re: SnowStairs X

Beautifully planned and detailed work. The grey stones really set that red brick off. Gary

Re: SnowStairs X

Brilliant color and detail and composition! Taking the time to work with those pencils was definitely worthwhile. Beautiful result!

Re: SnowStairs X

Another beauty Prof!

The bark on the tree is amazing and I can just feel the difference of the icy snow against the warmer reddish brick and stone.

Feel like I know those steps by now, but always interesting and pleasing to see them.

Regards,
Trier

Re: SnowStairs X

Super job, Derek. I'd say you have the medium nailed.

14 X 16 is pretty big for pencils, they are so slow.

Re: SnowStairs X

Beautiful Derek. Interesting composition and details. The red bricks finish it off nicely.
I've not tried poly pencils, but I have noticed w/c pencils are slow going too.
All the best for the new year.

Re: SnowStairs X

I haven't tried the poly pencils either but by the looks of things you are achieving some great saturated colours. Any chance we can get a wee sneaky close up of part of the painting Derek? Stunning work as usual.
