Scavenger Hunt 525 Dec 30, 2017 - Jan 7, 2018

If you've done at least one Scavenger Hunt and have time to host one, we'd really appreciate it! You can sign up by posting your name and the current hosting list stickie on Artwork from Life forum:

http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=366347

Rules for Hunting:

* All items on the list must be sketched from life--not imagination nor photo references
* Each object you draw can count for only one item on the list, no matter how many shapes/parts/colors that object contains. This was agreed to by unanimous vote among the participants
* You may place multiple objects together in a drawing or painting, and may count those objects as separate list items, but no single object can count for more than one list item.
* All items posted must be numbered. Count them as you go. The first item you sketch and post will be #1 regardless of its place on the list. Do them in whatever order you wish, but count them in the order in which you sketch them, from 1 to 26.

Do as many or as few items as you like; you don't have to finish the entire list to participate! You don't have to comment on every post, but comment, if and when you can.

Scavenger Hunts last for 9 days, with the next hunt starting on the 9th day.

Please tell us your size, surface, medium, and the amount of time it took you to do each sketch. We love hearing about your subjects and setups. Photos of your subjects are also welcome!

Jo! Two in a row!!! You're getting us through the holidays into the New Year in fun and happiness!!! Thanks for another fun list and I'll try to participate

WP, wow, like a party on paper!!! Wonderful collection and great start to this SH

stephanie, I meant to say "welcome bavk home" on the last hunt! I hope you'll join in on this hunt too

Joan, are you okay? I saw something on Google about northeast being super cold and parts of North America even being as cold as freakin' MARS. I hope you're still snug where you are.

Pine Cone, hi, hope you get time to sketch.

Stephanie, wow, that is excellent digi art and quick! I always take much longr with the iPad or iPhone. Great hatching.

Oh, Joe, I forgot to say the sketch on the last Hunt with the Christmas card was almost a half page in the big book so 8 x 6 or a bit bigger. So lots of room for detail I "didn't" put in. Ha.

Hope to get sketching in the morning. Today we went to lay in groceries for the cold weather and go to the Post Office.

Jo, thanks for the new list and for hosting 2 times in a row!

WP - as always a great page. Watch out for those cups...they look like they are tipping over. Wonderful teapot!!

Pine Cone - Thanks for checking on me. We've had several bone chilling days in a row. It was so cold I didn't go outside at all yesterday, so today I took the train into the city. It was cold and we had some snow, but I was with a group of sketchers indoors and we were quite comfy. I did have to clean off the snow on my car when I got back to my train station. I know there are places that are so much colder than what we've had. I don't think I could live someplace that gets that cold on a regular basis.

Stephanie - Good to see you here again. You've got a triple play there...nice!

Robin and Joe - Nice sketches to finish out the previous hunt!

Joe - Seeing that whole page together, it occurred to me that you had sketched each item differently according to its individual properties. Impressive and very inspiring!

stephanie - Sweet still life! Doesn't look awkward to me - comfortable and relaxing - very nice!

Joan - I'm glad you're comfy - gorgeous artifacts and all the people are individual and interesting. But the artifacts drew me back, floating mysteriously over the page. I wondered who they belonged to? So many questions. Wonderful portrayals!

Re: Scavenger Hunt 525 Dec 30, 2017 - Jan 7, 2018

WP - great page as always. The tittering teacups and the happy rocket are my favs.

Stephanie - Nice sketch. Great ellipses on the cup and saucer, I like how you hatched the plaid and wood.

Jo - 6x8 is a good size and I thought the detail was good.

Joan - Cold is relative based on what you are use to. It was 58 here this morning when I went out and I was freezing! Visiting the NMAI is on my bucket list. Kayapó are a South American nation? Was the last one a doll or a figurine displaying the dress? Well done. Thanks for peek into the museum.

Pine Cone - like the worn look on the book cover. The difference in mediums is really due to my trying to learn watercolor and pen and ink. So most items were done with them. But with time tickIng down I went to color pencil and graphite to get the last 2 done quick. The vast majority of my art is cp and graphite. They are my go to mediums, but folks here have gotten me to want to learn other mediums.

Ai - Wow! The colors leap off the screen. Love it! And 13 in composition. Makes me think of Jeanne.

Keep sketching
Joe

Morning and Happy New Year (well, Eve for most of us. I think it is the first of the year for Ai!)

Joan, your museum sketches are super. I would like to go there. Your people are excellent! What a sweetie.

Hi, Scatty!

Pine Cone, the book cover looks metallic. Very nice.

Ai, love your still life grouping. Clever sub for shelf! Yummy chocolate. Like your resolutions!

I'm off to sketch. Back to post in a bit.

Ah, there is Joe this morning! We cross posted so I'm editing this. Yes, cold is cold or relevant. We had a low of 47 and that is supposed to be our high for the next 3 or 4 days. Down into the 20s. It has already gone down to 42. Sigh....
