Now the rooster

First project was the little hen...now the rooster. He was a rowdy fellow. The grandkids had a "rooster stick" that was a long stick they could use to keep him from getting too close when they went to play with the hens or pick up eggs.
He would attack. Cochins are pretty small so he was not going to hurt anyone, but he was a nuisance sometimes!! He had a stern face and an evil eye!
I thought I would post my progress as I paint it because WIP progress posts really help me to see how others work. So here goes....
first the reference

Great bird portrait! I have a Brahma that struggle to paint -- getting those white birds to really show can be awfully challenging. I like what you did with this -- the colors at the bottom really do a great job in framing the bird.
