On the Swan River

A small, very simple sketch of boats on the Swan River in Perth. Pastels on blue paper. Using the same background colour for both sky and water.

Simplicity at its best. This is more than a sketch.

Love the effect when the sky and water become one. Those boats are beautifully rendered.

Re: On the Swan River

Great effect! A good approach for sketching and working quickly- what size is it?

Re: On the Swan River

Thank you everyone for your enthusiastic comments. Ken, the size is a little less than A4. This painting came about when I was on the river and spotted the orange buoys which are available for anyone to tie up to. The complimentary colours of orange and blue (my favourites) called out to me!
