The Painted Chair - casein

The Painted Chair with Carnations; casein tempera on board; 8" x 10"

In the comments I'll put an image showing some 'in progress' steps.

C & C welcome!

I love how your paintings just glow. Your paintings here inspired me to learn how to make casein paints. I made my first batch this weekend.

Thank you, Harold!

That's great you made your own paint - looking forward to seeing what you do with it. I hope you post some images here!

To my taste you are doing a first class job with Caseins. The work on the glass bowl and the chair are just wonderful. Gary

Wonderful! I know how odd I am but while the flowers are lovely, that chair & the glass vase and marbles just wow me.

Re: The Painted Chair - casein

Thank you, Gary and AbA!

It's funny your mention of the flowers, AbA. These carnations were definitely past their prime and I hadn't really planned on painting them again. It was the glint on the edge of the painted chair that really inspired me. Everything else was arranged to relate to that and bring it out.

That seems to happen to me a lot. I'll set out to paint one thing and another will work its way onto my canvas

Thanks again, guys!

- Mary

Mary your a natural for this medium, many shy from it. Ive been painting it for years, I really like this one, the palette and colour is so refreshing.

Beautiful painting! I've enjoyed reviewing the various posts and seeing your many Casein paintings. I've not seen many folks using Casein regularly; it's been fun to see.
