mix media - linocut and watercolour application

A few years back I had posted a three plate version of an open edition linoleum block print I did of a winter scene in the woods. Recently found the key plate in storage so I inked and printed a few more. Unfortunately the other blocks were no where to be found for printing the colour background. I took it upon myself to incorporate watercolour into the print to add in the colour elements.

It looks great. I often re-work prints with watercolors and pastels. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Your efforts in my view were well worth it.

thank you for the kind comment. Also having a background in painting I found that combining different mediums produces pleasant results.

The print looks really good. I've been experimenting too with watercolour, but with drypoint.

If you visit my blog I have examples of a few print mediums that have been combined with watercolour.

Adding watercolor was highly successful. Degas often used oil pastel on some of his prints, but I like the transparency of watercolor.
