Dormitory and Refectory Fountains Abbey

This drawing is dedicated to the great J M W Turner who spent sometime drawing and sketching at the Abbey. He initially prepared an on site sketch entitled The Lay Brothers Dormitory and Refrectory with River Skell. It was later developed into a watercolour entitled Dormitory and Transept of Fountains Abbey. I haven't been able to determine why the name change. I tracked down the approx view point, which is now difficult to access. Nevertheless here is my humble attempt.

Very nice, the varied textures are built into a good composition. A lovely place.

I think you did him proud. Nearly perfect except for a single missing component but it's really close.

Thanks Ken, the sketches and watercolour by Turner are wonderful. All this on the day the Turner Prize is announced here in the UK. Anyway I thought you would enjoy some fishing!
