cool vibe. Her right leg doesn't connect to her body

Re: A woman alone at the table

I'm not maryinasia, but I agree with both her comments. The vibe, colors and stylization are very cool. But the woman's anatomy is incorrect. Assume that she is nude and then imagine drawing the right leg completely. How would the woman's thigh attach to her trunk? As depicted, unless the bones of her right thigh take a sharp bend, her thigh could not meet up with the place where her hip joint must be.

Also, the table appears to be about to fall over to the left. Is that single white post in the middle supposed to be what's holding it up? If so, it needs to appear capable of holding the weight of the whole table, and as it is, is seems too frail and not sufficiently connected to the floor to bear that weight.

Just my thoughts - take whatever, if anything, seems helpful to you and disregard the rest.

Re: A woman alone at the table

always tricky to say how much reality is necessary in a stylized piece such as this.

almost too many options to count, but i'll tell what i would do if it were mine ...

trim her Very round cheek
add a window or doorway (gently) for her to be looking at (to help create story)(i Never sit with my back to the room, facing into a wall or corner).
turn the top pink line of her right upper leg into the lower half of her left arm (placing her left hand on her right knee)
oh, and i'd give her dark hair, a short bob kind of cut.
and maybe a second wine glass, anticipatory to a pending date (again, story).
i don't really care about the table leg, it could be the front left corner leg and it might become too busy by adding the other three.

you could do nothing to it, it's your style right now and it's a fun piece. to me it's just a little lonely, a little sad. perhaps that was your intent.

Re: A woman alone at the table

I thought the round thing on her head was a bun or big flower.. The way the hat fits seems off to me.. but it is so stylized , hard to say how much real is wanted..

Re: A woman alone at the table

Hi, Bull

A highly entertaining piece that certainly catches the eye. The style is reminiscent of expressionism, with its distorted imagery, mood and bold colours. It's very difficult to crit' a piece like this because of the stylised treatment of the central subject. Yes, certain things are a bit skewed, and could be remedied, but a lot depends on your initial intent.

Overall, I really liked this piece very much.

Best

You need to learn how to draw. Drawing is the backbone of painting.

Depth is important too.
The single table leg is placed impossibly

I think you're on to something here but the execution needs polishing. Maybe smoother and more full/singular brush strokes instead of many individual strokes making it look choppy when it looks like it wants to be smooth. I like this piece of work, great potential.
